METAL TRAVEL GUIDE Celebrates Third Anniversary: The Search For Metal Pubs Has Come To An End

Originally planned as a little fun project for own needs, the Metal Travel Guide has become the biggest online database for metal pubs, clubs, bars and venues. In early 2005, after a relaunch, a worldwide list of metal festivals was added — an additional feature requested by many users.

Every visitor can account for his fave addresses; this input from metalheads coming from all over the world keeps the project growing and up to date at all times. At the moment, about 1,300 metal locations in 80 countries are listed (recently, a lot of new info about Southeast Asia has been added, for example).

Now celebrating its third anniversary, the Metal Travel Guide is offering a small online store with shirts and accessories for (not only travelling) metalheads. There is also a forum where you can find personal scene guides in foreign countries or just chat about the scene at your holiday location of choice.

The Metal Travel Guide was created by Britta Hackenberger from Hamburg, Germany, who was tired of finding out about the best pubs in foreign places until the last day of her trips away from home. Since then, she has taken it upon herself to do research for metal locations every time she is abroad.

The metal record stores listed on the site are also reported to Metal Travel Guide's partner site, Metal Record Shops, and added to a combined database.

The Metal Travel Guide is currently looking for musicians of "not completely unknown" metal bands to write reviews or tour reports about the listed pubs and venues. These reports will be published in a separate section of the Metal Travel Guide with the band's logo and a link to the band's homepage.
